The Bad Lands
The Bad Lands
we are now at the bad lands!
Yesterday we drove 3 hours to our present camping spot
we are about 4 minutes from Theodore Roosevelt National Park entrance.
Yesterday was pretty boring, but today was awesome!...
as we drove in to the park we asked a Park Ranger for Junior Ranger books
(If you complete a Junior Ranger book, you can go to the visitor center and get a badge)
after that we drove to the Old East Entrance Trail
(we had to go the long way because half of the loop that the trail is on was closed)
on our way there we saw about 3 bison, one was walking on the road causing
a traffic jam. We also saw multiple prairie dog towns
(if you don't know what prairie dogs are, then google them, they are SOOO cute!)
we also stopped a couple of times before our destination to hike
(they were all short overlook trails)
once we finally got to the main trail, you could see the prairie dog town
that the trail goes thru
as we walk the prairie dogs bark at us, and sometimes they aren't very scared
they just sit there staring at you. half way thru the trail a prairie dog
is about 3 feet away from us just eating, he didn't care.
at the end of the trail was the the Old East Entrance
As we walked back we saw twice as many prairie dogs than on the way in.
many of them were not very scared we also saw babies.
After that we did the Coal Vain Trail and saw a Bull Snake!
on our way to a picnic area so we could eat lunch, we saw a herd of bison
(at least 40, there are more at Yellowstone)
after a very late lunch we drove thru Medora.
Then went home, and we leave tomorrow.
That's It!
